So we left Frankfurt at about 0645 and got to Denmark, by plane, at about 0800. Not a bad flight, short and sweet, just how I like them. So our meeting didn't start until about 1900 though, so what are we supposed to do? Well, go see Copenhagen of course!
We hopped on the train and off we went, it really is easy to get to the city center.
Walking around the city we found so many cool things to just snap pictures of, like the above picture of an old church. We were told to be on the look out for "Our Lady's Church" which has the original Christus which was the model for the church's Christus. But this wasn't the church haha.
We continued on around the city, it was such a nice day that they had all the fountains up and running. I like the frogs on this one... But the next one reminds me of fountains back in the states.
The last fountain we saw was an amazing fountain engineered quite well and it looked really cool too!I like the water spewing out from under the wheels, it really looks like the wheels are turning... And of course what fountain isn't complete without a snake?Denmark is ruled by a queen; the above picture is of the royal parliament building I believe and just to the left of where I took the picture was the palace. Pretty cool... Picture of the changing of the guard which happens once a day! Can you imagine being on duty for 24 hours? Grant it you aren't ON guard, but you are working... Hans Christian Andersen comes from Denmark and if you remember, he wrote the ORIGINAL Little Mermaid, so we took off to find this so called Ariel... Apparently she was beheaded a couple times during the 60s, but she looks pretty good...
We then headed out to the old Castle which now holds the crowned jewels. The place was closed so we couldn't go in and see it, but it was still nice to see the outside of it.
These pictures to come really summed up the reason for going to Denmark this past weekend. The sensation that is there when you see the Christus in Salt Lake obviously isn't there when you see this one, but it was still good to see where we got ours from.
Lining the walls toward the head of the Church where Christ sits is the 12 disciples, done in statue form just like the Christus.
The details in the hands, feet, clothes, it's all there, one of the girls I went with pointed out that the toenails are even depicted of having the cuticles and the lighter part of the nail near the base. The holder of the keys is of course... PETER
I can't remember who exactly this next disciple is, but I believe they had him named as Bartholemew. I would have thought it was someone else, but whatever.
And finally one last thought from Denmark, an advertisment for a new perfume all I can say is, now I know why I have no idea where I'm going with my life haha!
Where in the World is Sara D. Ray? Well, now you know.
